In 2003, Ben Gibbard took a few days off from driving the Death Cab and shipped recordings back and forth with his friend Jimmy. The result, not surprisingly, earned them a cease and desist letter for trademark infringement, but they managed to negotiate using the name in exchange for doing promos and performing at their National Executive Conference. Remember kids, USPS is just a regular old corporation, albeit one owned and regulated by the federal government. 20+ years later, and Give Up is still phenomenal.
